Move between menus by pressing one
of the F1 - F4 keys. The 'F1' key
generally returns you to the

In screen areas which show lists 
which are longer than one screen, 
you may scroll to the next or 
previous page by pressing 'FCN' 
then the Field Down or Field Up

Within fields which appear with an
underscore cursor in them, you may
move the cursor using the left and
right arrows marked 'CHAR'.

Occasionally you will encounter
popup dialog boxes. These general-
ly require a response of CANCEL or

arrow keys, then F1 to accept.

This screen allows you to copy
Parameter values to other Call 
Programs that are assigned to the 
same Script.

Use the Field Up/Down arrows to
move to the Parameter of interest.
Enter the desired value into the
field using the keypad.

You can then mark the Parameter to
be Copied (MARK COPY) or Copied 
and Incremented (MARK INCR). In 
the case of MARK INCR, a popup box
will prompt for "From", "Up to"
and "Step" values for the 
increment operation. Any number 
of Parameters can be marked to be 
Copied or Copied and Incremented.

Pressing the COPY (F2) key will
start the copy operation. A popup
box will indicate the progress of
copy operation. Note that modified
Call Programs will be prepared to
run, and this may take up to 20
seconds per Call Program.

Set the UNIT IDENTITY by typing in
an appropriate name for this unit.
(This requires a PC XT compatible
keyboard be attached, or the 
RS232 remote control can be used 
to change the prompt). This name 
will be displayed on the main 
menu, and on reports and other 
messages to the RS232 port.

Serial Port setup must match the
terminal, computer or printer 
attached to the RS232 serial port.
This includes the BAUD RATE,
PARITY, CR DELAY, and Printer 
Columns width.

If a non-buffered printer is used,
you may wish to set a delay time 
for carriage return (CR). This
will pause the serial output after
each CR to give the printer time

to home before the next line is

The internal clock may be set by
entering the current time in the
SET CLOCK box and pressing F4. A
small clock face will appear to
indicate the clock has been set.

Scripts are the test templates 
used by the AM2. These are 
programs written in an Ameritec 
defined test language.

Script lines longer than 32 char-
acters will scroll horizontally.
They may be viewed by using the
CHAR Left/Right arrows.

A Set is a collection of Call 
Programs. Each complete test is
defined in a Set. There are 4 sets
available.

To assign a Call Program to a Set,
first select the Set number, then
press the Field Left arrow to move
to the left column to enter the 
Call Program numbers.

As you enter the numbers, the 
unit checks for conflicts. That
is, if more than one program in 
the Set uses the same line. 
This will not be allowed, and a 
warning will be given.

The boxes in the Lines Used 
grid will be marked to indicate 
the entire Set usage, with the 
selected Programs lines also
highlighted.

Press F3 to activate a dialog
box for enabling or disabling one
or more Call Programs.

The F4 key will remove the high-
lighted program from the Set, but
not from the unit.

MODE using the Value Up/Down keys.

TROUBLE MODE may be set to track
total unit errors or errors per
call program. For either case,
the percentage error will be cal-
culated as soon as the minimum
number of originate call attempts 
has been made by the unit or line.

If this percentage is exceeded,
the specified action (Continue,
Stop Call, or Stop entire Unit)
will take effect.

When a call or the unit is stopped
by exceeding the TROUBLE MODE
settings, the LED for the 
line(s) that failed will turn
red. The START and FINISH LEDs
will alternately flash indicating
the unit has stopped on trouble.

The Auto Schedule allows automated
running of tests.

Four start times may be scheduled.
They may be entered in any order.
The month and am/pm fields must be
set using the Value Up/Down keys.
At any of these times, the Run
Sequence will be executed if the
Run Sequence is armed.

Up to four Sets in any order may
be run in the Run Sequence. If
fewer Sets are to be run, the
minutes field of the first Set 
not to be run must be set to 0.

Set numbers 1-4 select programmed
Sets. Set 0 is a "null" set, and
can be used to interrupt testing
for a programmed time.

Each Set in the Sequence will run
until one of the following cond-
itions is met: the run time (mins)
has expired, the number of orig-
inate call attempts have been 
made, or the number of calls have
completed. 

After all Sets have run, the 
Sequence will repeat the number 
of times specified. To run 
indefinately, choose 0 times.

Press F2 to enable (ARM) the 
automatic schedule. When armed,
the green light over the START key
will blink. Pressing F2 again will
disable (DISARM) the schedule.

Press F3 to manually start the
Sequence. This is not the same as
the START key, which will start a
Set.

The Report screen allows config-
uration and selection of the 
various report features.

The AUTO REPORT PRINT section
allows the Real Time Error and
automatic timed Statistics print-
out features to be selected. Use
the Field Up/Down arrows to move
from field to field.
